When you notice that burning sensation, a funky odor, or especially dark pee, drink tons of water and avoid sugar, caffeine, and alcohol.
Some other tips:
Wear clean cotton underwear daily.
Completely empty the bladder each time you pee.
Wipe carefully front to back.
Drink a full glass of water and pee before and after sex.
Use a squirt bottle of warm water and a few drops of tea tree oil (anti-bacterial), followed by a fresh water rinse.
Refrain from wearing PJs, to prevent wearing them backwards from the night before, contaminating the vulva with anal bacteria.
Restrict sex at the onset, during, or in recovery from an infection.
For woman who get very frequent infections, they should try a warm water wash before and after sex. Get a squeegee bottle of warm water, sit on the toilet, open labia, squirt the water on the vulva. Or just shower before and after.
Some supplements, herbs, and food that can help:
Protease, an enzyme that is great for viruses and bacteria. Take twice a day on an empty stomach.
Vitamin D3, flax seed oil, omega-3 fatty acids, and grape seed extracts are all anti-inflammatory.
Corn Silk, just take a giant handful and steep in boiling water to make a tea.
Ba Zheng San or Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan are Chinese formulas that can help, too.
